"The Poem of Wilderness", Dedicated to Lahea Atxkxeftu, Forest's Daughter

"Serenity of conflict"

The nocturnal creature stalks along its trail
Elusively silent as a frail wandering snail
Until sight of its prey is no longer pale
Then life and death hail, the wild shall prevail

Mystic silence reigns the young dewy dawn
The fatal darkness yields to light new born
Revealing the fox's blood scented yawn
As the hares salute the lost one they mourn

As night and day duel, the wild forest breathes
The rain’s moist embrace, shall nourish its leaves
Soaking the fox as its prey it retrieves
Aiding the hare as it ruefully flees

Thorny boundaries shelter the forest
Impenetrable trees haven the nest
Obscure burrows ward feral rest
As dawn is declared by the chanting crest
