Trust and Betrayal, the Dangerous Hope
Betrayal is an idea that only comes to life in relation to something that has previously existed and endured;
Be it a relation or a pact, that "something" must exist in order for the idea of Betrayal to even take place, to have meaning and value.
Within a relation, by looking lucidly enough, one may behold that Betrayal is the Captain (The one that leads and determines wether the relation lives or dies), while Trust is commonly the Servant (The one that obeys to the Captain's decision).
When Betrayal comes to life, along with it usually come the negative ideas of a rupture, a conclusion, pain, and above all: Death of Trust.
But if Trust was the oblivious Servant of Betrayal, through blindly obeying, then one must consider... When was Trust ever even Alive in the first place, in order for it to Die through the crucial decision of Betrayal?
So if Betrayal's effect depends on the existence of Trust, it appears evident that Trust is completely pointless within a relation, If it is weak, blind and oblivious, and therefore it may be considered not useful and inexistent in the first place if it lacks Foundation.
Hence now, it seems that the only Truthful fact within a relation is twofold: The Occurence, or the Absence of Betrayal (as said, Life or Death of a relation). Betrayal commands by its ownership of factual Truth. Unlike Trust, which is like walking through a devious forest on a cloudy New Moon's night: Dangerous.
Now that Betrayal's value has been declared, what remains to consider, is Trust.
Clearly, one must either be utterly Insane, or In Love, to truly Trust someone and embrace the event of becoming Vulnerable and prone to be hurt, since there is no Truth in Trust, which solely relies on Uncertainty, but only fate and danger, probable causes of Pain.
It paradoxically appears then that the common values attributed to Betrayal and Trust (respectively negative and positive) have been Demolished and Swapped: Betrayal is the forerunner of Truth, while Trust is the herald of Danger and Pain. But also... In very rare cases, of Love and True Happiness...
To truly embrace the Arduous path of Trust and its painful consequences, one must have a Vitally precious reason.
Conclusion: The alternative to rejecting both Trust, and therefore Betrayal's advent also, is unitary: being eternally Alone.
The day a man comes to realize that being Alone is just as Painful as the Vulnerability that Trust and Betrayal offer, that man must make a Decision, bearing in mind one last essential thought:
Being Alone is a perpetual choice that bears No other alternative, while Trust and Betrayal... In spite of their Danger, still Bear the rarest of all treasures: That dark Forest... Hope.
Lor.
